Packaging is one of the biggest uses of plastics worldwide, whether it is for the food we eat or the gadgets we buy, and one packaging company has recently bagged a trio of industry awards.

Amcor won an award in honour of its innovative packaging solutions over the past quarter of a century. DuPont’s award for ‘Continuing Innovation’ is a prestigious award that recognises the company as leaders in providing innovation and excellence in the industry.

Amcor was also awarded a silver ‘Excellence in Innovation’ award and a diamond award for ‘Food Security, which it claimed along with ColaLife, one of its customers and the co-developer Aidpod, a brand new system of packaging. Aid pod is an exciting innovation in the plastics world and is used to deliver vital medicine to children in remote areas.

The award ceremony took place on May 16 and helped Amcor to grow its DuPont award tally to 11.

Ken Mackenzie, the CEO and MD of Amcor said:

“We are delighted to be recognised by DuPont for our long-standing commitment to innovation. This award is great recognition of Amcor’s talented co-workers who passionately and relentlessly apply art and science to develop innovative packaging solutions and bring them to commercial reality.”

Amcor’s huge success should serve as an inspiration for everyone in the plastics industry, from sheet plastic manufacturers to those in the medical field – there is always more to aspire to and Amcor’s success proves that constant innovation can pay off.
